Keep reading to learn all there is to know about the Berry White cannabis strain, its history, genetics, and more. History of the Berry White Cannabis Strain Berry White (also known as Barry White in honor of the funk, soul, and disco legend) is a hybrid cannabis strain with some all-star genetics. Unfortunately, there is very little information available about this strain, though rumors suggest it was bred by Green Beanz Seeds—a low-key breeder from Colorado, known for selling its own line of cannabis seeds and clones. Genetic Lineage of Berry White Berry White is rumored to be slightly indica dominant, and combines genetics from DJ Short's almighty Blueberry and the iconic White Widow. According to cannabis folklore, Green Beanz stumbled on the strain that eventually became Berry White while working on a larger breeding project. Blueberry, Berry White's first parent, has definitely earned its place among cannabis classics. The strain was bred by DJ Short in the late 1970s/early 1980s, a time when the breeder was experimenting heavily with a variety of landrace sativas and indicas. Out of the sativas, DJ Short was particularly attracted to Highland Thai (also known as Juicy Fruit for its tropical aroma) and Purple Thai—a cross of Highland Oaxaca Gold and Chocolate Thai. By carefully crossing these strains, DJ Short created arguably his biggest two creations to date: The Flo (Purple Thai x Afghani) and Blueberry (Flo x Highland Thai). Today, Blueberry is available from a variety of breeders and growers and is renowned for its sweet berry aroma as well as its relaxed yet uplifting buzz. Blueberry won the 2000 High Times Cannabis Cup for Best Indica, and has continued to win
