About this release

Durban Poison (1980s Landrace) is a legendary 100% sativa landrace originating from the northern coastal belt of Durban, South Africa. Known worldwide as one of the most potent and pure Sativas, this classic African bush cannabis has been preserved in its original form, untouched by modern hybridization. These genetics were sourced by Ryan, a passionate South African strain hunter, who received vintage Durban Poison seeds from his father’s friend — a grower and seller of Durban Poison in the 1980s. Of the 200 seeds collected, only 20 germinated and 13 survived to maturity, making this a rare example of authentic 1980s Durban Poison. Unlike contemporary Dutch varieties, these plants offer true heritage African Sativa traits. Durban Poison is highly vigorous, hardy, and extremely pest- and mold-resistant, making it ideal for cultivation in humid environments. It grows tall and wide, reaching up to 4 meters (13 ft), with sprawling branches forming a creeper-like structure. During flowering, the branches produce small popcorn-style buds culminating in large terminal colas. Outdoor plants planted in early spring have a flowering time of 15 weeks and yield generous harvests of premium-quality African Sativa. Its aroma is distinctly African, with peppery notes accented by hints of passion fruit, while the effects are powerful and cerebral, enhancing creativity, clarity, and energy, with a THC content around 16%. Ideal for enthusiasts and landrace preservers alike, this Durban Poison is classic, potent, and historically significant.
