Mango Tail BX

Mango Tail (Thai land-race BX X Thai land-race BX6) First Draft Genetic represents a classic Lao-Isan (Mekong) landrace population, exhibiting tall, narrow-leafed structures, long internodal spacing, and exceptional resin production. Plants reach between 2-3 meters in height, thriving in the warm, dry climate of the Phu Phan Mountains. Six years ago (2019), First Draft Genetic, began selecting plants based on their most intense mango aroma. Through successive backcrossing with the most fragrant individuals from his uncle’s farm, he refined the strain now known as Mango Tail—a variety exuding the unmistakable scent of freshly cut mangoes. It is decadent, expressive, and exceptionally enjoyable to smoke. First Draft Geneitc preserves an ancient Lao-Isan landrace population cultivated on the eastern fringe of the Phu Phan Mountains. This landrace is one of the most authentic expressions of the Mekong sativas, having been maintained for generations through traditional open-pollination methods that safeguard its genetic diversity and resilience. Na Kae’s location—nestled at the northeastern edge of the Phu Phan range—contributes to a distinct terroir. The region’s environmental conditions produce expressions that are more similar to the cannabis of Dong Luang in Mukdahan than to the Kut Bak Plateau populations. However, like much of Isan, local cultivation faces challenges. Excessive culling of males in an attempt to produce seedless flowers has led to both a genetic bottleneck and an increase in hermaphroditism. With fewer males present to pollinate the females, hermaphroditic plants are increasingly responsible for reproduction, potentially altering the long-term stability of this landrace population.
