About this release
Purple Kong is a resin-heavy autoflowering variety originally bred by RocBud Inc., combining GG4 × Purple RocBerry into a line known for vigorous growth, dense flowers, strong coloration and heavy trichome production. The variety was later preserved and reproduced by Rinse Reserve, who continued working with the genetics and incorporated Purple Kong into his own breeding projects.
Purple Kong can produce vigorous, branching plants with a strong central structure and substantial lateral growth. Phenotypes can vary considerably in stature, but the line is generally capable of producing impressive plants for an autoflower, with some selections developing significant stretch during flowering. Flowers tend to become exceptionally dense and heavily coated in resin as they mature.
One of Purple Kong's most recognizable characteristics is its ability to develop deep purple and dark coloration, particularly toward the later stages of flowering and under suitable environmental conditions. Combined with its thick trichome coverage, this can give mature flowers a striking appearance. Color expression can vary between phenotypes, however, and should not be considered guaranteed on every plant.
The terpene profile is equally interesting, with reported expressions ranging from sweet berry and grape-like fruit through citrus, hash, earthy and funky notes. Some selections can show a pronounced orange-citrus and hash character, while others lean more heavily toward the sweet, fruity side inherited from Purple RocBerry.
Purple Kong is especially valuable as a breeding line because of its combination of autoflowering speed, resin production, dense flowers, coloration and distinctive terpene potential. Its genetics have been used by Rinse Reserve as a pollen donor, including the Purple Kong reversal that was crossed with Cathedral Kush to create the original Conan Kush line.
For growers interested in solventless production, Purple Kong is particularly noteworthy for its abundant resin p
