How this catalog is sourced
Every strain page on Areto Genetics carries its own numbered Sources & attribution footnotes identifying, field by field, where each class of data was recorded. This page describes the sources catalog-wide.
1. Breeder release records
Variety classifications, flowering times, THC/CBD figures, seed types, cultivation notes, parentage/lineage, grower ratings and breeder-supplied descriptions for 36,210 strains are compiled from the public release records, seed catalogs and grow documentation that each of the catalog's 2,125 breeders publishes for its own strains. Each strain page's footnotes name the specific breeders whose records it draws on. Records accessed 2026-09-13 to 2026-09-14. Breeder descriptions remain © their respective breeders and are reproduced with attribution; the underlying horticultural facts (genetics, flowering times, cannabinoid ranges) are factual data points not subject to copyright.
2. Community strain reports
Community-reported terpene profiles, effects, flavors and therapeutic-use tags for 9,086 strains are compiled from public, user-contributed strain reporting across consumer cannabis platforms and grow communities, accessed 2026-09-15. These are aggregated crowd observations — factual data points contributed by the public, which no platform owns. Only structured community facts are compiled; no editorial prose, imagery or branding from any platform is reproduced.
3. Medical & therapeutic evidence
The Medical Benefits section is compiled exclusively from peer-reviewed and governmental sources — the National Academies of Sciences (NASEM) 2017 review, Cochrane systematic reviews, and FDA drug approvals — and every condition page cites its sources inline. It is educational content, not medical advice.
4. Areto aggregation & analysis
Canonical strain naming, alias grouping, median/range statistics across breeder releases, the cross-breeder lineage graph, chemotype classification and the retail shopping guidance are original analysis computed by Areto Genetics from the sources above; these aggregates appear in no single source. State availability signals come from Areto's own retail network data.
Attribution principles & corrections
Citations are provided for transparency and attribution. Areto Genetics compiles factual data points — genetics, flowering times, cannabinoid figures, community-reported effects — which are not subject to copyright, and credits where each was published. Breeder-supplied descriptions remain the property of their respective breeders and are reproduced with attribution. Corrections and attribution requests: genetics@areto.tech.
