Indica / Sativa — retail shopping guide

Indica 50%Sativa 50%

Indica, sativa and hybrid are a retail shopping convention — not a reliable guide to genetics or effects. When researchers analysed 89,923 commercial samples across six states, these labels did not predict a plant’s terpene or cannabinoid profile, and a genome-wide study found sativa- and indica-labelled plants to be genetically indistinct (PLOS ONE 2022; Nature Plants 2021). The labels are so fluid that AK-47, a hybrid, won “Best Sativa” at the 1999 Cannabis Cup and “Best Indica” four years later. For an accurate, genetics-true picture, see the chemotype above.

About Birkin Berry

Blockberry “Pink Panties Cut” × Mochi Melon F1 Male Birkin Berry is a high-fashion berry–melon hybrid built from two dialed-in sources of heat. On the mother side, the Blockberry “Pink Panties Cut” was sourced through VA Homegrown Vega (Know Good Genetics), who received it directly from Blockhead. This cut is known for its huge, swollen calyxes, rich berry-cream terps, and heavy color—traits that carry strongly into the cross. On the father side, the Mochi Melon F1 population is the same seed line that produced the celebrated Mochi Melon #4, a clone that routinely tests 30–32% THC for commercial cultivators across multiple states. Out of a field of 400 plants, one male stood out as the only plant that truly mirrored the resin quality, nose, and potency markers seen in Grape Mochi and Mochi Melon #4. That male was then reversed and run as a female to fully showcase its potential. This project went through three indoor runs: Reversing the Mochi Melon F1 male and running it as a female to confirm elite traits. Running the Blockberry “Pink Panties Cut” and pollinating it with the selected Mochi Melon F1 male. Growing out and stress-testing the progeny to lock in quality before release.
