Indica / Sativa — retail shopping guide

Indica 30%Sativa 70%

Indica, sativa and hybrid are a retail shopping convention — not a reliable guide to genetics or effects. When researchers analysed 89,923 commercial samples across six states, these labels did not predict a plant’s terpene or cannabinoid profile, and a genome-wide study found sativa- and indica-labelled plants to be genetically indistinct (PLOS ONE 2022; Nature Plants 2021). The labels are so fluid that AK-47, a hybrid, won “Best Sativa” at the 1999 Cannabis Cup and “Best Indica” four years later. For an accurate, genetics-true picture, see the chemotype above.

About Black Sheep

Black Sheep was created by Lost River Seeds as part of their Golden Goat series. The team at Lost River Seeds used the clone only Golden Goat female and crossed it with an Afghan Male which was then bred out to the F4 generation. The male selected from the F4 line passed on the structure, flavor, and aroma of the Golden Goat with no Afghan traits. Black Sheep was created by using a Black Water OG by Cali Connection Seeds and pollinating it with the Golden Goat male
