Indica, sativa and hybrid are a retail shopping convention — not a reliable guide to genetics or effects. When researchers analysed 89,923 commercial samples across six states, these labels did not predict a plant’s terpene or cannabinoid profile, and a genome-wide study found sativa- and indica-labelled plants to be genetically indistinct (PLOS ONE 2022; Nature Plants 2021). Brain Cake maintains the long internode structure of its parents, but we will be surprised by its production if we give it size. This variety reacts at low temperatures showing dark tones and purple colors at the end of flowering.
