Indica / Sativa — retail shopping guide

Indica 50%Sativa 50%

Indica, sativa and hybrid are a retail shopping convention — not a reliable guide to genetics or effects. When researchers analysed 89,923 commercial samples across six states, these labels did not predict a plant’s terpene or cannabinoid profile, and a genome-wide study found sativa- and indica-labelled plants to be genetically indistinct (PLOS ONE 2022; Nature Plants 2021). The labels are so fluid that AK-47, a hybrid, won “Best Sativa” at the 1999 Cannabis Cup and “Best Indica” four years later. For an accurate, genetics-true picture, see the chemotype above.

About Carambola

Carambola is a distinctive hybrid from Higher Heights, combining the farm’s proprietary Brozé genetics with a Sunburn × Green Tea cross. Its pedigree, (Sunburn × Green Tea) × Brozé, brings together bright citrus character, deeper earthy notes and the expressive, terpene-forward qualities for which Higher Heights is known. Carambola stands out first and foremost for its loud and complex aroma. The profile opens with vibrant orange and sour cherry, followed by layers of spicy incense, myrrh and a subtle gassy edge. Limonene is one of the dominant terpenes found in documented batches, helping give the flowers their particularly fresh, zesty character, while caryophyllene and linalool add peppery and floral depth. The experience is generally described as uplifting, energetic and playful, making Carambola a cultivar appreciated for its lively character rather than a heavy, sedating finish. Its combination of intense aromatics and feel-good effects has helped establish it as one of Higher Heights' notable cultivars. Carambola has also proven valuable beyond the flower market as part of Higher Heights' breeding work. It was used as a parent in Pineapple Mojito, demonstrating the cultivar'
