Indica / Sativa — retail shopping guide

Indica 30%Sativa 70%

Indica, sativa and hybrid are a retail shopping convention — not a reliable guide to genetics or effects. When researchers analysed 89,923 commercial samples across six states, these labels did not predict a plant’s terpene or cannabinoid profile, and a genome-wide study found sativa- and indica-labelled plants to be genetically indistinct (PLOS ONE 2022; Nature Plants 2021). The labels are so fluid that AK-47, a hybrid, won “Best Sativa” at the 1999 Cannabis Cup and “Best Indica” four years later. For an accurate, genetics-true picture, see the chemotype above.

About Chem 541

Chem 541 is a Chem91 backcross. We started with the original Chem 91 clone in 2016 and crossed it to our Session Sour Diesel BX1. The Session Sour Diesel BX1 is (Sonoma Sour Diesel) x (Sonoma Sour Diesel x Lemon Pineapple). This was called simply C91. In 2017 we backcrossed a male from the C91 seeds into the original Chem 91 clone to create our Chem91 BX1. We named this Chem91 backcross line Chem 541 as a nod to Oregon roots (541 is the Southern Oregon area code). Legend has it the original Dog Bud came from Oregon. Pounds of this Dog Bud made its way to a Grateful Dead show in 1991. Bag seed from Dog Bud was found, grown out and eventually named Chem Dog. Growing info – Chem 541 grows much like the original Chem91 maturing in late October. True to the Chem line it stays green and does not turn purple as the temps drop. Delicious smells of fuel and a dirty sock paradox accompany a mind numbing high in this classic line. Harvest at latitude 42.0 October 15-25
