THC-dominant

Chemotype — the cannabinoid and terpene profile — is the lab-verifiable signal that stays true to a cultivar’s genetics, which is why scientists classify cannabis by chemical profile (a “chemovar”) rather than by name (Hazekamp & Fischedick 2012). Cannabinoid type is set largely by a single gene (the THC:CBD ratio); about 96% of commercial flower is Type I, THC-dominant. Terpene profiles are sourced from Certificates of Analysis (COA) and roll out as Areto’s lab-verified data comes online.

Indica / Sativa — retail shopping guide

Indica 30%Sativa 70%

Indica, sativa and hybrid are a retail shopping convention — not a reliable guide to genetics or effects. When researchers analysed 89,923 commercial samples across six states, these labels did not predict a plant’s terpene or cannabinoid profile, and a genome-wide study found sativa- and indica-labelled plants to be genetically indistinct (PLOS ONE 2022; Nature Plants 2021). The labels are so fluid that AK-47, a hybrid, won “Best Sativa” at the 1999 Cannabis Cup and “Best Indica” four years later. For an accurate, genetics-true picture, see the chemotype above.

About Chiang Mai Haze

With THC levels of around 26% thanks to the Ghost Train Haze mother, this sativa dominant cross packs a potent psychedelic punch. Lemon terps are evident along with chocolate notes on the exhale. In the grow room it will smell like a lemon tree. Growers will find this plant a delight. She's not difficult or needy and can be easily grown outside, where her sativa genetics will ensure she performs well in all climates. She exhibits the typical haze structure of a sativa, and can grow very tall if not trained or controlled. This strain loves being in coco, but may need additional cal-mag and topdressing in soil. She will fade out to a lovely yellow and purple on her leaves, with the buds displaying a lovely orange hue.
