Indica / Sativa — retail shopping guide

Indica 50%Sativa 50%

Indica, sativa and hybrid are a retail shopping convention — not a reliable guide to genetics or effects. When researchers analysed 89,923 commercial samples across six states, these labels did not predict a plant’s terpene or cannabinoid profile, and a genome-wide study found sativa- and indica-labelled plants to be genetically indistinct (PLOS ONE 2022; Nature Plants 2021). The labels are so fluid that AK-47, a hybrid, won “Best Sativa” at the 1999 Cannabis Cup and “Best Indica” four years later. For an accurate, genetics-true picture, see the chemotype above.

Chocolate Reaper is a unique combination of Chocolate Mint OG and Garlic Daiquiri. The Chocolate Mint OG mother that was used in the cross was selected on the Oregon cost in 2016. She has been grown in Oregon's recreational market since 2020. While she was never a high tester her bag appeal was as good as it gets and her smell was unmatched. She was culled in 2020 to make room for "higher testing" verities or she would still be alive today. We will all look back on strains like this and hate ourselves for culling them due to testing. In saying that, the Chocolate Reaper seeds are the only remaining progeny from the Chocolate Mint OG mother and are somewhat limited. Progeny has been shown to express recessive traits that could make this strain an absolute delight for those who are looking to hunt something truly unique. Most phenos have been reported to carry after their parents with tall, deep purple colas that smell of rich chocolate with hints of rotten fruits. Other have found lime green phenos that are said to smell like raunchy garlic and sweet pickles. There's a lot of fun possibilities to be found in these genetics. Mostly importantly, all phenos that have been tested have t
