Dai Daeng - Red String Thai Stick Strain

The infamous 'Red-String' Thai-Sticks are supposed to have been originally produced for export in the 60s by a clan of growers headed up by a fiery matriarch whose calling card was red string as opposed to the traditional strand of hemp fibre. This top quality product set the world's imagination on fire with shipments to Hawaii and California fetching unheard of prices at the time. Such was the fame that very quickly criminal syndicates, the military and police took over, cutting down the fields and ending the traditional artisanal production in Isan in favour of much larger grows in the border regions of the north, west and across the Mekong in Laos.
