Chemotype — the cannabinoid and terpene profile — is the signal that stays true to a cultivar’s genetics, which is why scientists classify cannabis by chemical profile (a “chemovar”) rather than by name (Hazekamp & Fischedick 2012). The dominant terpenes below are aggregated from community and lab reporting; aroma and effect associations are preliminary and not medical claims. Lab-verified COA profiles roll out as Areto’s data comes online.

Indica / Sativa — retail shopping guide

Indica 50%Sativa 50%

Indica, sativa and hybrid are a retail shopping convention — not a reliable guide to genetics or effects. When researchers analysed 89,923 commercial samples across six states, these labels did not predict a plant’s terpene or cannabinoid profile, and a genome-wide study found sativa- and indica-labelled plants to be genetically indistinct (PLOS ONE 2022; Nature Plants 2021). The labels are so fluid that AK-47, a hybrid, won “Best Sativa” at the 1999 Cannabis Cup and “Best Indica” four years later. For an accurate, genetics-true picture, see the chemotype above.

About Divorce Cake

We took a select cutting of Wedding crashers (Wedding Cake x Purple Punch) that tested high for potency and crossed it with a selection of Gelato that showed an above average terpene profile. Dense potent flowers with a strong fruity nose resulted. This cross brings a grapey vanilla cake terp profile to your field with a soft fuel undertone. The flowering time on this Gelato cross is a tad longer due to the shared wedding cake lineage. We called this variety Divorce Cake because its got cake lineage, and we thought it was funny. Not everyone thinks it’s funny though turns out. Hey lighten up ya’ll.
