Chemotype
Type I
THC-dominant
Chemotype — the cannabinoid and terpene profile — is the lab-verifiable signal that stays true to a cultivar’s genetics, which is why scientists classify cannabis by chemical profile (a “chemovar”) rather than by name (Hazekamp & Fischedick 2012). Cannabinoid type is set largely by a single gene (the THC:CBD ratio); about 96% of commercial flower is Type I, THC-dominant. Terpene profiles are sourced from Certificates of Analysis (COA) and roll out as Areto’s lab-verified data comes online.
Indica / Sativa — retail shopping guide
Indica, sativa and hybrid are a retail shopping convention — not a reliable guide to genetics or effects. When researchers analysed 89,923 commercial samples across six states, these labels did not predict a plant’s terpene or cannabinoid profile, and a genome-wide study found sativa- and indica-labelled plants to be genetically indistinct (PLOS ONE 2022; Nature Plants 2021). The labels are so fluid that AK-47, a hybrid, won “Best Sativa” at the 1999 Cannabis Cup and “Best Indica” four years later. For an accurate, genetics-true picture, see the chemotype above.

About Exotic Witch
Exotic Witch: A Unique Treat Indeed
All of the best cannabis strains on the market started out as landraces that developed naturally in the wild. Exotic Witch shares this story. It’s an indica-dominant polyhybrid variety with parent strains from entirely different regions. Half of her genetics stem from a landrace sativa discovered deep in the rainforests of the West Indies. A cannabis field geneticist stumbled upon the specimen and brought it back to the state of California. Here, breeders crossed it with an old indica variety from NorCal. Exotic Witch was teased out of the mix and stabilised over several generations. The result is a highly aromatic strain that packs a stoning punch. EFFECT, FLAVOUR, AND AROMA OF EXOTIC WITCH
Exotic Witch descends from both sativa and indica ancestors. However, it’s the indica genetics that have punched to the forefront. The strain produces a primarily stoning effect that sets in with haste. Within seconds from the first hit, a creeping sensation of relaxation works its way across the body. Tension begins to dissolve, pain may subside, and mood increases. Exotic Witch is mainly suitable for evening and nighttime use. Her sedating effects will help
