Chemotype — the cannabinoid and terpene profile — is the lab-verifiable signal that stays true to a cultivar’s genetics, which is why scientists classify cannabis by chemical profile (a “chemovar”) rather than by name (Hazekamp & Fischedick 2012). Cannabinoid type is set largely by a single gene (the THC:CBD ratio); about 96% of commercial flower is Type I, THC-dominant. Terpene profiles are sourced from Certificates of Analysis (COA) and roll out as Areto’s lab-verified data comes online.

Indica / Sativa — retail shopping guide

Indica 50%Sativa 50%

Indica, sativa and hybrid are a retail shopping convention — not a reliable guide to genetics or effects. When researchers analysed 89,923 commercial samples across six states, these labels did not predict a plant’s terpene or cannabinoid profile, and a genome-wide study found sativa- and indica-labelled plants to be genetically indistinct (PLOS ONE 2022; Nature Plants 2021). The labels are so fluid that AK-47, a hybrid, won “Best Sativa” at the 1999 Cannabis Cup and “Best Indica” four years later. For an accurate, genetics-true picture, see the chemotype above.

About Grape Diamonds

Ethos Genetics Grape Diamonds R2 is a cannabis plant cross between two phenotypes coming from the same variety, Member Berry, a hybrid between Skunk Berry x Mandarin Sunset and cup winner both in flower and in extraction. Thus, the result is Grape Diamonds R2, a more complete plant at all levels. Grape Diamonds has a vigorous development, a well-branched plant with short-medium internodal distances. Its dark green leaves can acquire purple colours up to the temperature, creating a true visual spectacle. It is easy to cultivate and manage, using hydroponic cultivation systems with automatic irrigation such as Floraflex or in conventional cultivation such as soil. It is suitable for both SOG performing low pruning, and SCROG using topping as a pruning technique. Grape Diamonds, powerful and productive buds Grape Diamonds R2 flowering stage is exuberant, producing large, voluminous and heavy buds that mature rapidly after about 9 weeks. It offers abundant harvest both indoors with a yield exceeding 600g per m2, and outdoors where you can expect a yield above 1000g per plant, harvested in October. Its flowers are completely covered with trichomes, offering a gleaming appearance contras
