Chemotype — the cannabinoid and terpene profile — is the signal that stays true to a cultivar’s genetics, which is why scientists classify cannabis by chemical profile (a “chemovar”) rather than by name (Hazekamp & Fischedick 2012). The dominant terpenes below are aggregated from community and lab reporting; aroma and effect associations are preliminary and not medical claims. Lab-verified COA profiles roll out as Areto’s data comes online.

Indica / Sativa — retail shopping guide

Indica 70%Sativa 30%

Indica, sativa and hybrid are a retail shopping convention — not a reliable guide to genetics or effects. When researchers analysed 89,923 commercial samples across six states, these labels did not predict a plant’s terpene or cannabinoid profile, and a genome-wide study found sativa- and indica-labelled plants to be genetically indistinct (PLOS ONE 2022; Nature Plants 2021). The labels are so fluid that AK-47, a hybrid, won “Best Sativa” at the 1999 Cannabis Cup and “Best Indica” four years later. For an accurate, genetics-true picture, see the chemotype above.

About Guava Chem

Guava Chem is a slightly Indica-dominant hybrid strain of cannabis for daytime use. This strain is a great icebreaker for those who have social anxiety and find themselves sitting on the sidelines in the social scene. Guava Chem has a complicated and technical ancestry, being the cross of Tres Chemdawg and Chem 4. This is because these strains are also complicated genetic crosses of Afghani #1 and Dawg. To the layman consumer, this just means a long and dedicated history went into breeding a strain with these specific and potent traits. Although this strain’s origins remain a mystery, it has been recorded that some Guava Chem was entered into the 2014 LA Cannabis Cup where it did not place
