When researchers analysed 89,923 commercial samples across six states, these labels did not predict a plant’s terpene or cannabinoid profile, and a genome-wide study found sativa- and indica-labelled plants to be genetically indistinct (PLOS ONE 2022; Nature Plants 2021). In addition to the typical Sour Diesel (lime-mint-eucalyptus) and Kosher OG (pungent skunk gas) aromas, its profile also has its own unique note thanks to True D, which contains additional nuances of anise, fennel oil, and a hint of sage. The terpenes are accordingly limonene, myrcene, ocimene (monoterpenes) and β-caryophyllene (sesquiterpenes). Thiols such as 3-methyl-2-buten-1-thiol (prenylthiol) are also decisive for the sulfurous skunk and gasoline/diesel/gas smell. The effect is often invigorating and relaxing at the same time, making this strain ideal for both medical and recreational use
