Indica / Sativa — retail shopping guide
Indica 70%Sativa 30%
Indica, sativa and hybrid are a retail shopping convention — not a reliable guide to genetics or effects. When researchers analysed 89,923 commercial samples across six states, these labels did not predict a plant’s terpene or cannabinoid profile, and a genome-wide study found sativa- and indica-labelled plants to be genetically indistinct (PLOS ONE 2022; Nature Plants 2021). The labels are so fluid that AK-47, a hybrid, won “Best Sativa” at the 1999 Cannabis Cup and “Best Indica” four years later. For an accurate, genetics-true picture, see the chemotype above.

About Headband (Notsodog Cut)
The Story of 56 Headband Many years ago in Southern California, there was an OG cut that was kept extremely close to the chest. This was during a time when cannabis prices were exceptionally high, and competition around elite genetics could become intense. According to the story, disputes over this particular cut even led to violence, prompting one grower to leave Southern California and relocate to the Bay Area with the clone. Once there, he wanted to grow and sell it, but he didn't want to use its original name because he hoped to avoid the drama and attention associated with it. Together with his roommate, he came up with a new name that would help disguise its identity. They settled on Headband. Over the years, the name stuck. As the clone spread, however, confusion grew online. Numerous strains began circulating under the Headband name, and some people claimed the variety originated in New York or that their version was the original. Among ourselves, we simply referred to it as 56, which seemed as good a name as any. There are claims that this may be the original Kush that Josh once had, though those claims remain difficult to verify. What is clear is that it is a very early O
