Indica / Sativa — retail shopping guide

Indica 70%Sativa 30%

Indica, sativa and hybrid are a retail shopping convention — not a reliable guide to genetics or effects. When researchers analysed 89,923 commercial samples across six states, these labels did not predict a plant’s terpene or cannabinoid profile, and a genome-wide study found sativa- and indica-labelled plants to be genetically indistinct (PLOS ONE 2022; Nature Plants 2021). The labels are so fluid that AK-47, a hybrid, won “Best Sativa” at the 1999 Cannabis Cup and “Best Indica” four years later. For an accurate, genetics-true picture, see the chemotype above.

About Hotcakes

Hotcakes is a cross of Katsu Bubba Kush and Burnt Toast – kush, kush, more kush, and some cookies… This is definitely not a “daytime” strain, more of a “couch and channel surf” buzz. The taste is mostly Bubba – coffee and chocolate with something dank and slightly sweet in the back and lots of gas coming through later in flower
