Indica / Sativa — retail shopping guide
Indica, sativa and hybrid are a retail shopping convention — not a reliable guide to genetics or effects. When researchers analysed 89,923 commercial samples across six states, these labels did not predict a plant’s terpene or cannabinoid profile, and a genome-wide study found sativa- and indica-labelled plants to be genetically indistinct (PLOS ONE 2022; Nature Plants 2021). About Huckleberry Soda
Out of all the seeds we bred with pollen from our virile Huckleberry Hound, these are the ones that we were most excited about popping. We had only a few on hand, so we were extra careful when germinating them. The mother in this cross is Black Cherry Soda (BCS) — what we like to refer to as our favorite cultivar of all-time —, which naturally comes to mind whenever we conceive of novel breeding projects. Simply, BCS checks off all the boxes, and with her chromosomes combined with a Huckleberry Hound male of similar qualities the anticipation was almost too hard for us to contain! As the plants progressed through the stages of growth we quickly realized that our hopes had been realized. This cannabis cultivar is truly something special. We found two definite female keeper phenotypes as well as two male keeper phenos; each sex producing one pink and one purple phenotype.
The #4 female plant produces buds that are solid dark-purple…so purple that they are nearly black.
