Chemotype — the cannabinoid and terpene profile — is the lab-verifiable signal that stays true to a cultivar’s genetics, which is why scientists classify cannabis by chemical profile (a “chemovar”) rather than by name (Hazekamp & Fischedick 2012). Cannabinoid type is set largely by a single gene (the THC:CBD ratio); about 96% of commercial flower is Type I, THC-dominant. Terpene profiles are sourced from Certificates of Analysis (COA) and roll out as Areto’s lab-verified data comes online.

Indica / Sativa — retail shopping guide

Indica 30%Sativa 70%

Indica, sativa and hybrid are a retail shopping convention — not a reliable guide to genetics or effects. When researchers analysed 89,923 commercial samples across six states, these labels did not predict a plant’s terpene or cannabinoid profile, and a genome-wide study found sativa- and indica-labelled plants to be genetically indistinct (PLOS ONE 2022; Nature Plants 2021). The labels are so fluid that AK-47, a hybrid, won “Best Sativa” at the 1999 Cannabis Cup and “Best Indica” four years later. For an accurate, genetics-true picture, see the chemotype above.

About In-Fern-Ho

This variety is born from crossing the California freakshow variety and the famous Sensi Durban, which we have stabilized with three back crosses to inherit the very characteristic foliar taxonomy that defines FreakShow. This strain can easily be mistaken for a mugwort, making it perfect for guerilla cultivation, where it shows more vigor than its predecessor thanks to the introduction of South African sativa genes. The leaves of this variety are a visual spectacle that will make even the most expert eye doubt whether it is cannabis. However, once flowering begins, this evidence diminishes due to its powerful aroma. In-fern-ho will reward us with an abundant harvest of extra aromatic buds in a period of only 9 weeks indoors and after the first week of October outdoors. Note: The seeds of this variety are very pale and do not require hydration prior to germination. Genetics: (Freakshow bx4 x Sensi Durban) BX3 Format: regular Type: stabilized mutation Structure: more sativa hybrid Aroma: Sweet / Complex / Intense Indoor flowering: 8 to 9 weeks Flowering outdoor: early-mid October Yield: medium - high THC: 17% - 20% Indica / Sativa: 20% - 80%
