Indica, sativa and hybrid are a retail shopping convention — not a reliable guide to genetics or effects. When researchers analysed 89,923 commercial samples across six states, these labels did not predict a plant’s terpene or cannabinoid profile, and a genome-wide study found sativa- and indica-labelled plants to be genetically indistinct (PLOS ONE 2022; Nature Plants 2021). About Indiana Bubblegum Bx3
The third and final backcross in our Indiana Bubblegum preservation project. A classic balanced indica/sativa hybrid from the 1980s with a strong, happy head and sweet tooty-fruity terpene profile. To preserve this potent heirloom strain from the American Midwest, we started with a US-sourced clone mother dating back to 1991, prior to its release by Dutch seed companies. We have crossed it with a select 1998-vintage Serious Bubblegum male with excellent structure and sweet, fruity terpene profile, and then backcrossed selected progeny three more times back to the mother to create our BX3 release. Uniform, robust, and easy to grow, with a medium stature and true 60-day maturity. Males are excellent breeding stock for reviving in-bred clone strains.
