Indica / Sativa — retail shopping guide
Indica, sativa and hybrid are a retail shopping convention — not a reliable guide to genetics or effects. When researchers analysed 89,923 commercial samples across six states, these labels did not predict a plant’s terpene or cannabinoid profile, and a genome-wide study found sativa- and indica-labelled plants to be genetically indistinct (PLOS ONE 2022; Nature Plants 2021). Jaggen is a legendary cannabis strain from Germany, originally developed by the late breeder Dr. Knospe (Hanfburg). This iconic variety is a carefully selected cutting from Jack Flash, itself a cross of Jack Herer x (Super Skunk x Haze). For many years, Jaggen was only available as a cutting to select breeders.
