Indica / Sativa — retail shopping guide

Indica 30%Sativa 70%

Indica, sativa and hybrid are a retail shopping convention — not a reliable guide to genetics or effects. When researchers analysed 89,923 commercial samples across six states, these labels did not predict a plant’s terpene or cannabinoid profile, and a genome-wide study found sativa- and indica-labelled plants to be genetically indistinct (PLOS ONE 2022; Nature Plants 2021). The labels are so fluid that AK-47, a hybrid, won “Best Sativa” at the 1999 Cannabis Cup and “Best Indica” four years later. For an accurate, genetics-true picture, see the chemotype above.

Lafanta Light, one of the first strains released by Light Buds from Spain, accommodates this demand excellently, with great flavour and good yields only sweetening the deal. This cross of Light Buds' own Cali Orange with Skunk and a CBD elite clone is an almost pure indica (95% indica), which makes the plant rather unproblematic to grow. Indoors, cultivators can see as much as 500–600g/m² of fine bud after only 8 weeks of flowering. In optimal outdoor conditions, where the plant thrives in a warm climate with plenty of sunlight, growers have reported as much as 700–1000g from a single plant. Lafanta Light is low in THC and rich in CBD, with a THC:CBD ratio of between 1:1 and 1:2. This means enjoying the stra
