Indica, sativa and hybrid are a retail shopping convention — not a reliable guide to genetics or effects. When researchers analysed 89,923 commercial samples across six states, these labels did not predict a plant’s terpene or cannabinoid profile, and a genome-wide study found sativa- and indica-labelled plants to be genetically indistinct (PLOS ONE 2022; Nature Plants 2021). Giesel is a backcross of the now extinct Massachusettes Super Skunk (there is a lot of current debate about who brought the Mass Super Skunk to the table) but one thing is known, Giesel is the closest and best representation to what is credited with being the father of the Chemdog lines, also making it the Grandfather of the Diesel lines and Great Grandfather of OG Kush.
