Indica, sativa and hybrid are a retail shopping convention — not a reliable guide to genetics or effects. When researchers analysed 89,923 commercial samples across six states, these labels did not predict a plant’s terpene or cannabinoid profile, and a genome-wide study found sativa- and indica-labelled plants to be genetically indistinct (PLOS ONE 2022; Nature Plants 2021). About Limonada Cerezada
In 2019, the Black Tuna team arrived at the Emerald Cup in the beautiful mountains of Sonoma County to meet up with Cherry West BX, bred by a great friend known to many as @meangenefrommendocino from @freebornselections, but whom we call Jackson. During the event, we enjoyed the fascinating story of the Candelabra that marked the beginning of extensive work with Cherry West, also known as '1000 flavors' due to its long and complex lineage. This cultivar is the result of three generations of breeding, which began in the Colombian lands where Mean Gene's family obtained the main genes for many of the lime and cherry terpene profiles we enjoy today. After several years of domestication, we finally achieved the yield we so desired from Cherry West, and from there the first crosses such as Jaguar Negro and Raspao emerged. Today, we can enjoy these same delicacies with the new Limonada Cerezada. Here, Gene talks about the work with Cherry West BX: 'We made some decent improvements at each stage without losing the special qualities we love about the Cherry West 10 clone. I created Cherry West and my mom cloned a very rare specimen which was her number 10, then I crossed Cherry West 10 x C
