Chemotype
Type I
THC-dominant
Chemotype — the cannabinoid and terpene profile — is the lab-verifiable signal that stays true to a cultivar’s genetics, which is why scientists classify cannabis by chemical profile (a “chemovar”) rather than by name (Hazekamp & Fischedick 2012). Cannabinoid type is set largely by a single gene (the THC:CBD ratio); about 96% of commercial flower is Type I, THC-dominant. Terpene profiles are sourced from Certificates of Analysis (COA) and roll out as Areto’s lab-verified data comes online.
Indica / Sativa — retail shopping guide
Indica, sativa and hybrid are a retail shopping convention — not a reliable guide to genetics or effects. When researchers analysed 89,923 commercial samples across six states, these labels did not predict a plant’s terpene or cannabinoid profile, and a genome-wide study found sativa- and indica-labelled plants to be genetically indistinct (PLOS ONE 2022; Nature Plants 2021). The labels are so fluid that AK-47, a hybrid, won “Best Sativa” at the 1999 Cannabis Cup and “Best Indica” four years later. For an accurate, genetics-true picture, see the chemotype above.

About Malakoff
With this new variety we expand our Sativa’s catalogue with another plant that will give much to talk about, because it is a short flowering period plant that Sativa lovers cannot overlook. It is not suitable for novice growers because if you get a bit distracted, or the plant is stressed at the beginning of flowering, it tends to spin out its vigorous growth and also delay flowering. It is also a mould-resistant plant recommended for outdoor growing in places with high humidity. Malakoff has a strong brain effect for those who prefer a creative and energising effect. It also has a great taste because it combines the sour characteristic of the Sativas with a touch of cream and strawberry. 80% Sativa / 20% Indica
