Indica, sativa and hybrid are a retail shopping convention — not a reliable guide to genetics or effects. When researchers analysed 89,923 commercial samples across six states, these labels did not predict a plant’s terpene or cannabinoid profile, and a genome-wide study found sativa- and indica-labelled plants to be genetically indistinct (PLOS ONE 2022; Nature Plants 2021). Please check them out!*** A classic Lao – Thai cannabis landrace cultivated for ganja. Powerfully aromatic like all good tropical Sativas and can exhibit anything from pleasantly euphoric to intense potency. Two main variants are expressed, one with strong fruit scents redolent of mango and papaya, the other with ‘darker’ and earthier aromas akin to tobacco, leather, spices, and musk. The mango plants tend to be lighter and softer green in colour. The richer, more tobacco-scented forms typically have darker-coloured bracts, a trait that’s enhanced on curing.
