Chemotype — the cannabinoid and terpene profile — is the lab-verifiable signal that stays true to a cultivar’s genetics, which is why scientists classify cannabis by chemical profile (a “chemovar”) rather than by name (Hazekamp & Fischedick 2012). Cannabinoid type is set largely by a single gene (the THC:CBD ratio); about 96% of commercial flower is Type I, THC-dominant. Indica / Sativa — retail shopping guide
Indica, sativa and hybrid are a retail shopping convention — not a reliable guide to genetics or effects. When researchers analysed 89,923 commercial samples across six states, these labels did not predict a plant’s terpene or cannabinoid profile, and a genome-wide study found sativa- and indica-labelled plants to be genetically indistinct (PLOS ONE 2022; Nature Plants 2021). About Marula Fruit
Marula Fruit: Treat Yourself To Rest And Relaxation
Marula Fruit is a stoning indica with African origins. To honour her heritage, we named the strain after the Marula tree of the same continent. These large and rugged trees produce fruits that get local elephants drunk. Although our strain produces a different effect, these two species share expansive canopies and psychoactive properties. To create Marula Fruit, we secured a unique landrace discovered in the southeast African nation of Mozambique. We bred this stunning specimen with a potent indica variety from Mendocino County, California. Breeding these two strains from opposite sides of the planet was an ambitious task. However, we were more than pleased with the result! Marula Fruit emerged as a heavily indica-dominant variety featuring 35% indica genetics and 65% sativa.
