Chemotype — the cannabinoid and terpene profile — is the lab-verifiable signal that stays true to a cultivar’s genetics, which is why scientists classify cannabis by chemical profile (a “chemovar”) rather than by name (Hazekamp & Fischedick 2012). Cannabinoid type is set largely by a single gene (the THC:CBD ratio); about 96% of commercial flower is Type I, THC-dominant. Terpene profiles are sourced from Certificates of Analysis (COA) and roll out as Areto’s lab-verified data comes online.

Indica / Sativa — retail shopping guide

Indica 70%Sativa 30%

Indica, sativa and hybrid are a retail shopping convention — not a reliable guide to genetics or effects. When researchers analysed 89,923 commercial samples across six states, these labels did not predict a plant’s terpene or cannabinoid profile, and a genome-wide study found sativa- and indica-labelled plants to be genetically indistinct (PLOS ONE 2022; Nature Plants 2021). The labels are so fluid that AK-47, a hybrid, won “Best Sativa” at the 1999 Cannabis Cup and “Best Indica” four years later. For an accurate, genetics-true picture, see the chemotype above.

About Maui Lobster

Information on Maui Lobster Maui Lobster is one of the most exotic additions to the Blue Lobster line from Cipher Genetics, the seed bank founded by Chris Lynch, former breeder at Compound Genetics. This feminized photoperiod variety offers a complex terpene profile, high resin production, and genetics that combine the best of two worlds: the Hawaiian tropics and premium selections from the East Coast of the United States. Genetics: Hawaii Meets the East Coast Maui Lobster is the result of crossing Maui Skunk Dog and Blue Lobster. Maui Skunk Dog was created by Pua Mana Pakalolo from Super Skunk, Maui, and Chem Dawg. It was grown and acclimated for years on the north coast of Maui, Hawaii, giving it a genuine tropical character. Blue Lobster is a selection by Maine Trees, created by crossing Apples & Bananas with Eye Candy, a Facade variety by Compound Genetics. It was recognized with three awards at Zalympix 2023 on the East Coast of the United States. The result is an indica-dominant hybrid with top-tier genetics and a dense trichome profile, making it especially valuable for extraction production. Cultivation: Moderate Difficulty, Generous Rewards Indoors, Maui Lobster completes
