Indica / Sativa — retail shopping guide

Indica 50%Sativa 50%

Indica, sativa and hybrid are a retail shopping convention — not a reliable guide to genetics or effects. When researchers analysed 89,923 commercial samples across six states, these labels did not predict a plant’s terpene or cannabinoid profile, and a genome-wide study found sativa- and indica-labelled plants to be genetically indistinct (PLOS ONE 2022; Nature Plants 2021). The labels are so fluid that AK-47, a hybrid, won “Best Sativa” at the 1999 Cannabis Cup and “Best Indica” four years later. For an accurate, genetics-true picture, see the chemotype above.

About Maui Red

This variety is very vigorous with medium branching and can grow quite large given enough vegetative time. The buds are compact and absolutely covered with trichomes. Super sticky and super stinky. Some will have a tendency to turn purple later in flower. Easy to manage so it can be grown indoors or out. Well suited for SOG or SCROG. The aromas range from citrus and sweet fruit to vanilla and honey with some skunky undertones. It is very smooth on the pallet with a creamy aftertaste. Maui Red has a strong centered high that still allows you to think while keeping you active and creative. Great for daytime and social events or hiking and having fun
