Chemotype genetics-true
Chemotype
Type III
CBD-dominant
Chemotype — the cannabinoid and terpene profile — is the lab-verifiable signal that stays true to a cultivar’s genetics, which is why scientists classify cannabis by chemical profile (a “chemovar”) rather than by name (Hazekamp & Fischedick 2012). Cannabinoid type is set largely by a single gene (the THC:CBD ratio); about 96% of commercial flower is Type I, THC-dominant. Terpene profiles are sourced from Certificates of Analysis (COA) and roll out as Areto’s lab-verified data comes online.
Indica / Sativa — retail shopping guide
Indica, sativa and hybrid are a retail shopping convention — not a reliable guide to genetics or effects. When researchers analysed 89,923 commercial samples across six states, these labels did not predict a plant’s terpene or cannabinoid profile, and a genome-wide study found sativa- and indica-labelled plants to be genetically indistinct (PLOS ONE 2022; Nature Plants 2021). The labels are so fluid that AK-47, a hybrid, won “Best Sativa” at the 1999 Cannabis Cup and “Best Indica” four years later. For an accurate, genetics-true picture, see the chemotype above.

About Medicated OG
For this project we started out with our Harlequin cut that has the 2:1 CBD:THC ratio. Typically tests right at 9% CBD:4.5% THC. We had to bring her into the room to make our first “"Medicated OG." The goal is start working towards the CBDs traits in future generations. The father Double Barrel OG also has CBD potential from the Raskal OG side. Dr. Scanderson found multiple Double Barrel females carrying high CBD #s while hunting through the Double Barrel lines. CBD matches made in heaven, no doubt. Be sure to test you selected keepers to ensure you keep the high CBDs. As with all F1s, there will be variation and not every plant will carry high concentrations of CBDs. Around 20-30 percent will be the higher CBD carriers. Extremely valuable to medical patients looking for relief from many ailments including pain and seizures. Genetics: Harlequin X Double Barrel OG
