Chemotype — the cannabinoid and terpene profile — is the lab-verifiable signal that stays true to a cultivar’s genetics, which is why scientists classify cannabis by chemical profile (a “chemovar”) rather than by name (Hazekamp & Fischedick 2012). Cannabinoid type is set largely by a single gene (the THC:CBD ratio); about 96% of commercial flower is Type I, THC-dominant. Terpene profiles are sourced from Certificates of Analysis (COA) and roll out as Areto’s lab-verified data comes online.

Indica / Sativa — retail shopping guide

Indica 50%Sativa 50%

Indica, sativa and hybrid are a retail shopping convention — not a reliable guide to genetics or effects. When researchers analysed 89,923 commercial samples across six states, these labels did not predict a plant’s terpene or cannabinoid profile, and a genome-wide study found sativa- and indica-labelled plants to be genetically indistinct (PLOS ONE 2022; Nature Plants 2021). The labels are so fluid that AK-47, a hybrid, won “Best Sativa” at the 1999 Cannabis Cup and “Best Indica” four years later. For an accurate, genetics-true picture, see the chemotype above.

About Morpheus

Morpheus is an Indica dominant hybrid, with relaxing and soothing therapeutic properties, thanks to its high CBD content. Buddha Seeds worked hard to stabilize the THC and CBD levels in a 1: 1 ratio of up to 20% of total cannabinoids. It is the solution for the contemporary user who aims to obtain important productions together with high percentages of THC and CBD. Other important characteristics of Morpheus are its branched and balanced structure, and a powerful growth that culminates in a resinous flowering. In the last weeks of flowering, you can see at a glance the abundant trichomes covering the flower, offering that special and desired look, adding up to its citrus flavors that makes this variety a delight for the most demanding users. Environment Indoor/Outdoor Genetics: Hybrid with Indica predominance Flowering time indoor: 65 days Harvest month outdoors: Early October (northern hemisphere).
