Indica, sativa and hybrid are a retail shopping convention — not a reliable guide to genetics or effects. When researchers analysed 89,923 commercial samples across six states, these labels did not predict a plant’s terpene or cannabinoid profile, and a genome-wide study found sativa- and indica-labelled plants to be genetically indistinct (PLOS ONE 2022; Nature Plants 2021). Violeta is something we consider a very solid landrace hybrid. Ace have been working the Malawi for some time now, and the Pakistan Chitral Kush is their legendary elite 2002 purple pheno. Together, the F-1 hybrid has produced some amazing offspring which gave us plenty of scope to make our selection. Our Violeta mother had all the classic qualities of both parents and an amazing high to boot. The plant structure leans more towards the Malawi, but with ‘kushy’ rock hard buds. Every pheno but one produced amazing colours, so selecting for looks beams pretty easy. Violeta #7 became out top choice as it had all of the above, as well as a very smooth and relaxing, upbeat high.
