Indica, sativa and hybrid are a retail shopping convention — not a reliable guide to genetics or effects. When researchers analysed 89,923 commercial samples across six states, these labels did not predict a plant’s terpene or cannabinoid profile, and a genome-wide study found sativa- and indica-labelled plants to be genetically indistinct (PLOS ONE 2022; Nature Plants 2021). Such pronounced, sulfur-like garlic terpenes are extremely rare to find even after more than two decades of experience. The original cut is a true exception. First selected in 2023 in Canada by Quentin Terpentino.
To preserve and at the same time refine its special characteristics, it was most recently stabilized with Quentin Terpentino’s Skunk and another (secret) genetic to create a bit more stability and homogeneity. The genetics are still in development and can still produce somewhat unpredictable phenos and traits – but that is exactly what makes it appealing right now.
