Indica / Sativa — retail shopping guide

Indica 100%

Indica, sativa and hybrid are a retail shopping convention — not a reliable guide to genetics or effects. When researchers analysed 89,923 commercial samples across six states, these labels did not predict a plant’s terpene or cannabinoid profile, and a genome-wide study found sativa- and indica-labelled plants to be genetically indistinct (PLOS ONE 2022; Nature Plants 2021). The labels are so fluid that AK-47, a hybrid, won “Best Sativa” at the 1999 Cannabis Cup and “Best Indica” four years later. For an accurate, genetics-true picture, see the chemotype above.

About Original Afghan Mix

Released in 1989 seed catalog This seedline comes directly from the collection of the late 'Maple Leaf' Wilson, reputedly one of the first collectors of true Afghan seeds. He was called 'Maple Leaf' because he grew some of the first Indicas that had been seen in America, and their broad leaves could only be compared to maple leaves. Our Afghan Mix was propagated from his original Afghan stock, completely unselected, therefore possessing all the variety that existed in the original gene pool. Due to the extreme variation that exists between the seedlings, this mix is recommended for serious breeders and collectors only. Sold in a special breeder's pack of 50 seeds
