Indica / Sativa — retail shopping guide

Indica 50%Sativa 50%

Indica, sativa and hybrid are a retail shopping convention — not a reliable guide to genetics or effects. When researchers analysed 89,923 commercial samples across six states, these labels did not predict a plant’s terpene or cannabinoid profile, and a genome-wide study found sativa- and indica-labelled plants to be genetically indistinct (PLOS ONE 2022; Nature Plants 2021). The labels are so fluid that AK-47, a hybrid, won “Best Sativa” at the 1999 Cannabis Cup and “Best Indica” four years later. For an accurate, genetics-true picture, see the chemotype above.

About Papusas

This is the encounter between OG Bubba (Bubba Kush x Legend OG) and Birthday Cake (Cherry Pie x Girl Scout Cookies), resulting in a vigorous and well-branched Indica-leaning hybrid. A plant that adapts well to all growing spaces, substrates and techniques, offering a good performance with basic care. This genetic cocktail delivers plants with a hybrid and branchy appearance, developing flexible stems with medium-long internodes. It acquires a shrubby structure of up to 2m when cultivated directly in open ground early in the season. On the other hand, cultivated in small pots, it develops columnar plants with some secondary branches which facilitates moulding. It can be cultivated in SCROG with apical pruning or widened using stakes and tutors. Also using the LST or supercropping technique by adapting it to the space available and thus maximising bud production. This variety is not very demanding in terms of nutrients, although it appreciates a balanced supply with no deficiencies in order to obtain the maximum quality. Papusas delivers a high flower production, a yield of up to 500g per m2 in an indoor grow tent, and a yield that can exceed 700g per plant cultivated in open ground
