Terpene profile most dominant first
Chemotype — the cannabinoid and terpene profile — is the signal that stays true to a cultivar’s genetics, which is why scientists classify cannabis by chemical profile (a “chemovar”) rather than by name (Hazekamp & Fischedick 2012). The dominant terpenes below are aggregated from community and lab reporting; aroma and effect associations are preliminary and not medical claims. Lab-verified COA profiles roll out as Areto’s data comes online.
Indica / Sativa — retail shopping guide
Indica, sativa and hybrid are a retail shopping convention — not a reliable guide to genetics or effects. When researchers analysed 89,923 commercial samples across six states, these labels did not predict a plant’s terpene or cannabinoid profile, and a genome-wide study found sativa- and indica-labelled plants to be genetically indistinct (PLOS ONE 2022; Nature Plants 2021). The labels are so fluid that AK-47, a hybrid, won “Best Sativa” at the 1999 Cannabis Cup and “Best Indica” four years later. For an accurate, genetics-true picture, see the chemotype above.

About Purple Voodoo
A hybrid from the California Bean Bank In the Purple Voodoo strain, voodoo is used to describe the magical transformation this plant undergoes during flowering. The actual word “voodoo” comes from the word for spirit in the language of the West African country once called Dahomey and now known as the Republic of Benin. The voodoo religion acknowledges only one God, but does not think that God intervenes in human affairs. Instead, intercession in daily life is left to the spirits, who preside over minor matters and smooth the way for their followers. In this light, Purple Voodoo might be thought of as a minifestation of the purple spirit of cannabis. Certainly the genetics are purple on all branches of this California strain’s family tree. The mother is Double Purple Doja, a cross off Apollo 13 and Black Russian that stays short and thick, and gains dark rich burgundy tones at finish. The father is a cross of the deep purple Urkel and Purple Diesel strains. This dad strain was chosen because it adds excellent node stacking and produces heavy buds. Purple Vodoo is a great outdoor strain in California or similar climates such as parts of Spain. Gardeners will have to make adjustments
