Indica / Sativa — retail shopping guide

Indica 30%Sativa 70%

Indica, sativa and hybrid are a retail shopping convention — not a reliable guide to genetics or effects. When researchers analysed 89,923 commercial samples across six states, these labels did not predict a plant’s terpene or cannabinoid profile, and a genome-wide study found sativa- and indica-labelled plants to be genetically indistinct (PLOS ONE 2022; Nature Plants 2021). The labels are so fluid that AK-47, a hybrid, won “Best Sativa” at the 1999 Cannabis Cup and “Best Indica” four years later. For an accurate, genetics-true picture, see the chemotype above.

About Romulawi

Romulawi is a sativa dominant hybrid of Romulan and Heirloom Malawi. The Romulan cutting used in this cross was sourced in the "East Bay", south of Oakland, CA from growers who had grown the cutting continuously for years. The Heirloom Malawi male was sourced in the Santa Cruz Mountains (Davenport) from growers who had line bred the variety for decades since acquiring the genetics in the late 1970's
