Chemotype — the cannabinoid and terpene profile — is the lab-verifiable signal that stays true to a cultivar’s genetics, which is why scientists classify cannabis by chemical profile (a “chemovar”) rather than by name (Hazekamp & Fischedick 2012). Cannabinoid type is set largely by a single gene (the THC:CBD ratio); about 96% of commercial flower is Type I, THC-dominant. Terpene profiles are sourced from Certificates of Analysis (COA) and roll out as Areto’s lab-verified data comes online.

Indica / Sativa — retail shopping guide

Indica 70%Sativa 30%

Indica, sativa and hybrid are a retail shopping convention — not a reliable guide to genetics or effects. When researchers analysed 89,923 commercial samples across six states, these labels did not predict a plant’s terpene or cannabinoid profile, and a genome-wide study found sativa- and indica-labelled plants to be genetically indistinct (PLOS ONE 2022; Nature Plants 2021). The labels are so fluid that AK-47, a hybrid, won “Best Sativa” at the 1999 Cannabis Cup and “Best Indica” four years later. For an accurate, genetics-true picture, see the chemotype above.

About Shark

Shark is a genotype held for more than ten years. This lady is the largest producer of resin that can be found in CBD Seeds, so if you are looking for extraction this is your best choice. It produces company and heavy buds, completely covered by resin. The plant is preferred by many people, both novices and experienced growers, because their handling is very easy and always rewards us with a great harvest. It can considered a commercial strain, and its as productive as Critical or Cheese. This is a very resistant strain to powdery mildew; it has never given us problems with this disease. Once you dry it, it has a strong smell, with hints of coffee, earth and liquorice, especially if you grow it organically. Anyway, it has a character that will not leave you disappointed. Flowering indoor: 7-8 weeks Outdoor harvest: Mid September Production: High Genotype: 90% Indica Phenotype: Indica dominant hybrid Effect: Powerful, medicinal, relaxing Smell: Intense, various aromas such as coffee, cocoa... Taste: Sweet, licorice
