Chemotype
Type I
THC-dominant
Chemotype — the cannabinoid and terpene profile — is the lab-verifiable signal that stays true to a cultivar’s genetics, which is why scientists classify cannabis by chemical profile (a “chemovar”) rather than by name (Hazekamp & Fischedick 2012). Cannabinoid type is set largely by a single gene (the THC:CBD ratio); about 96% of commercial flower is Type I, THC-dominant. Terpene profiles are sourced from Certificates of Analysis (COA) and roll out as Areto’s lab-verified data comes online.
Indica / Sativa — retail shopping guide
Indica, sativa and hybrid are a retail shopping convention — not a reliable guide to genetics or effects. When researchers analysed 89,923 commercial samples across six states, these labels did not predict a plant’s terpene or cannabinoid profile, and a genome-wide study found sativa- and indica-labelled plants to be genetically indistinct (PLOS ONE 2022; Nature Plants 2021). The labels are so fluid that AK-47, a hybrid, won “Best Sativa” at the 1999 Cannabis Cup and “Best Indica” four years later. For an accurate, genetics-true picture, see the chemotype above.

About Shogun
Shogun is a stimulating sativa that'll rev up the engine of your mind. Prepare for blast-off. Shogun: When You Need A Mental Boost
Shogun is the progeny of two very different cultivars. Our breeders selected parent strain Amnesia Haze for her high THC content, high productivity, and sativa dominance. This feisty strain descends from Original Amnesia Haze and contains a medium level of CBD. Shogun also includes genetics from Royal Gorilla. This ultra-potent beast features 25% THC and a perfect balance between sativa and indica genetics. Royal Gorilla stems from a trio of legendary cultivars: Sour Dubb, Chem Sis, and Chocolate Diesel. Shogun features a balance of traits from both of these strains. She inherited her sativa dominance from Amnesia Haze and a high THC level from both parents. EFFECTS, FLAVOURS, AND AROMA
