Indica, sativa and hybrid are a retail shopping convention — not a reliable guide to genetics or effects. When researchers analysed 89,923 commercial samples across six states, these labels did not predict a plant’s terpene or cannabinoid profile, and a genome-wide study found sativa- and indica-labelled plants to be genetically indistinct (PLOS ONE 2022; Nature Plants 2021). The labels are so fluid that AK-47, a hybrid, won “Best Sativa” at the 1999 Cannabis Cup and “Best Indica” four years later. For an accurate, genetics-true picture, see the chemotype above.

About South African D.P. 34
A pure sativa with a sweat licorice taste and an up high. Similar in many respects to Thai. Inbred for 5 generations in California. This variety is known for its outstanding crosses with indica's increasing potency and yield. Good resin production, for a sativa. As is often the case with S. African, the occasional hermaphrodite will be found in this strain. - Height 7 to 12 feet.
