Indica / Sativa — retail shopping guide
Indica 30%Sativa 70%
Indica, sativa and hybrid are a retail shopping convention — not a reliable guide to genetics or effects. When researchers analysed 89,923 commercial samples across six states, these labels did not predict a plant’s terpene or cannabinoid profile, and a genome-wide study found sativa- and indica-labelled plants to be genetically indistinct (PLOS ONE 2022; Nature Plants 2021). The labels are so fluid that AK-47, a hybrid, won “Best Sativa” at the 1999 Cannabis Cup and “Best Indica” four years later. For an accurate, genetics-true picture, see the chemotype above.

About Ukhrul
Genetics: Commercial Manipuri Ganja Plant Latitude: 24°N Regional Harvest: mid December to mid January Height: 1m - 2.5m in natural outdoor environment Yield: under 1kg of dried flowers in natural outdoor environment Aroma: light citrus, floral, sour ganja Characteristics: 'sativa' high, usually short plants, 50% are purple Traditional Purpose: ganja (cured flowering tops, slightly seeded) Grow Type: greenhouse or outdoors A highland Manipuri ganja strain grown commercially on the border of Burma. Farmers here are Naga tribesman. Historically the Naga tribes have at times grown ganja, but cannabis growing is usually viewed as a Meitei (lowland Manipuri) tradition. Most fields in Ukhrul are commercial, for the Indian market, though some of the crop may go to Burma ('Myanmar'). This seems to be a much shorter strain than the classic Manipuri grown in Imphal Valley by the Meitei. Half of plants are the purple phenotype; some are surprisingly resinous. Aromas are sour citrus ganja with some floral notes. Effect is an uplifting 'sativa' high. An unusual variety, little seen in the West, likely to be worth exploring for compact 'sativa' genetics
