Indica / Sativa — retail shopping guide

Indica, sativa and hybrid are a retail shopping convention — not a reliable guide to genetics or effects. When researchers analysed 89,923 commercial samples across six states, these labels did not predict a plant’s terpene or cannabinoid profile, and a genome-wide study found sativa- and indica-labelled plants to be genetically indistinct (PLOS ONE 2022; Nature Plants 2021). The labels are so fluid that AK-47, a hybrid, won “Best Sativa” at the 1999 Cannabis Cup and “Best Indica” four years later. For an accurate, genetics-true picture, see the chemotype above.

About Vietnam Dalat
This is a saving of a line more than a preservation, as the seeds were very old and took a long time to germinate. These are not like the Vietnam Black, these are weeping willow, curly, leafy, wild and long branches that grow up from the ground and drape over. The flowers are tight, with good resin, but very small glands. Most all phenotypes are green, with the occasional purple phenotype. If people work the line, the purple phenotypes will become more common
