Indica / Sativa — retail shopping guide

Indica 30%Sativa 70%

Indica, sativa and hybrid are a retail shopping convention — not a reliable guide to genetics or effects. When researchers analysed 89,923 commercial samples across six states, these labels did not predict a plant’s terpene or cannabinoid profile, and a genome-wide study found sativa- and indica-labelled plants to be genetically indistinct (PLOS ONE 2022; Nature Plants 2021). The labels are so fluid that AK-47, a hybrid, won “Best Sativa” at the 1999 Cannabis Cup and “Best Indica” four years later. For an accurate, genetics-true picture, see the chemotype above.

About WarDog

WarDog is another one of our constant works in progress. It started off as a cross of Soma NYCD x Afghani. This was mated with my champion male Chemdawg IBL from Rez which has been used as the stud for a number of our varieties. The result was a sativa dominant hybrid that stinks deliciously of a pungent fuel smell mixed with fruit juice. These plants have since been grown outside every year in New England and pollinated by one select male to create the next generation. The mother selection always focuses on the candy diesel smell and frost production. The dried flowers are extremely dense and have amazing bag appeal with their sticky, resinous buds. The aromas of her burning flowers smell of an exotic sweetness that cannot be described. Then the fuel taste comes on strong as if taking a swig of diesel. The experience is finished off by her fruity aftertaste. A wonderful plant that must be experienced to appreciate. These plants do best in the New England outdoors if greenhouse covered or the season is relatively dry. Although she is Sativa dom, Her buds are thick and can resist mold in all but the most soggy New England autumns. 9-10 weeks indoors 60\40 Sativa dom
