Chemotype — the cannabinoid and terpene profile — is the lab-verifiable signal that stays true to a cultivar’s genetics, which is why scientists classify cannabis by chemical profile (a “chemovar”) rather than by name (Hazekamp & Fischedick 2012). Cannabinoid type is set largely by a single gene (the THC:CBD ratio); about 96% of commercial flower is Type I, THC-dominant. Terpene profiles are sourced from Certificates of Analysis (COA) and roll out as Areto’s lab-verified data comes online.

Indica / Sativa — retail shopping guide

Indica 50%Sativa 50%

Indica, sativa and hybrid are a retail shopping convention — not a reliable guide to genetics or effects. When researchers analysed 89,923 commercial samples across six states, these labels did not predict a plant’s terpene or cannabinoid profile, and a genome-wide study found sativa- and indica-labelled plants to be genetically indistinct (PLOS ONE 2022; Nature Plants 2021). The labels are so fluid that AK-47, a hybrid, won “Best Sativa” at the 1999 Cannabis Cup and “Best Indica” four years later. For an accurate, genetics-true picture, see the chemotype above.

About Zushi

Zushi S1 by Botafarm Genetics: Exotic gas, potency and unique coloursZushi S1 arises from the self-fertilisation process of the legendary Zushi clone, a genetic line highly valued for its terpene balance and psychoactive strength. This S1 version preserves the key traits of the original while offering greater phenotype uniformity and a consistent terpene profile across all plants. Its hybrid genetic foundation merges the best of modern lines with the depth of Kush varieties, resulting in a powerful combination of flavour, effect and visual appeal. Zushi S1 cultivation: Compact, resinous flowers and bluish tonesThis plant is noted for its robust, compact structure, producing dense buds coated in a thick layer of resin, making it ideal for extractions. Under optimal conditions, the flowers may display bluish or purple hues, especially with a drop in temperature during flowering. It is a versatile strain with balanced growth, easy to manage with various cultivation techniques. Its high resin production and structure is also well suited to SCROG setups or top pruning. Zushi S1, flavours and effects: Floral, citrus and Kush with a creamy, gassy backgroundZushi S1 features a rich and lay
