Chemotype — the cannabinoid and terpene profile — is the signal that stays true to a cultivar’s genetics, which is why scientists classify cannabis by chemical profile (a “chemovar”) rather than by name (Hazekamp & Fischedick 2012). The dominant terpenes below are aggregated from community and lab reporting; aroma and effect associations are preliminary and not medical claims. Lab-verified COA profiles roll out as Areto’s data comes online.

Indica / Sativa — retail shopping guide

Indica 50%Sativa 50%

Indica, sativa and hybrid are a retail shopping convention — not a reliable guide to genetics or effects. When researchers analysed 89,923 commercial samples across six states, these labels did not predict a plant’s terpene or cannabinoid profile, and a genome-wide study found sativa- and indica-labelled plants to be genetically indistinct (PLOS ONE 2022; Nature Plants 2021). The labels are so fluid that AK-47, a hybrid, won “Best Sativa” at the 1999 Cannabis Cup and “Best Indica” four years later. For an accurate, genetics-true picture, see the chemotype above.

About Chocolate Mint OG

We merged two iconic super strains from the Northern California scene, the infamous Emerald OG with the ever classic Granddaddy Purple. Very vigorous growth during beginning stages makes for a quick turnover into the flowering period. Long spacing between node sites gives excellent light penetration. The flowering period requires some form of trellising or stakes as large egg shaped bud sites develop into beautiful crowning colas, which finish heavy coated in resin. Strong overtones of chocolate, mint and pine are unmistakable, ending with notes of tangy sweetness. This flavor is undeniably good down to the very end. Effects are very strong and cerebral as it is ideal for “end of day” use. This amazing combination of flavor is quite unique to most profiles and is not one to miss
