In 2018, a grandson （HGP） of the grandmother found a few "bagseeds" in his original Gelato #41 from California. After planting three of these seeds and they had completed their flowering period, it was possible to select a phenotype that appeared most similar to the original Gelato. Another grandson （Vince） took care of getting a few cuts of this phenotype in Grandma's garden so that a test pollination could be done with it. First came Grandma's Punch （Gelato 41 x Critical Kush）, which proved to be stable. At this time, CBD strains were also being worked on at Grandma's, so HGP's Gelato was pollinated in another run with two Erdpurt males at the same time to expand the gene pool.
