Indica / Sativa — retail shopping guide

Indica 30%Sativa 70%

Indica, sativa and hybrid are a retail shopping convention — not a reliable guide to genetics or effects. When researchers analysed 89,923 commercial samples across six states, these labels did not predict a plant’s terpene or cannabinoid profile, and a genome-wide study found sativa- and indica-labelled plants to be genetically indistinct (PLOS ONE 2022; Nature Plants 2021). The labels are so fluid that AK-47, a hybrid, won “Best Sativa” at the 1999 Cannabis Cup and “Best Indica” four years later. For an accurate, genetics-true picture, see the chemotype above.

About Malla Paya

From the hands of a private collector near the Gomati River, Malla Paya is a very sturdy Himalayan landrace. It has medium branching or could be grown to a single cola, if grown close together. It is an excellent three-in-one variety for production of fibre, seeds, and hand-rubbed charas. Himalayan cultivars are praised for their versatility and strength. It will stretch quite a bit given enough room. In the right conditions it can grow over 3 meters high. It is very hardy and can withstand frost and freezing rain. An excellent plant for most outdoor environments. The aromas are of sweet citrus and are best with a good long cure. It has an uplifting initial high that evens out into a warm relaxing high. It can also be a little euphoric and trance like. Good for meditation. Malla Paya breads true with little variation in pheno types. The majority of plants are likely to show moderate to high levels of CBD. This is the first generation and has been reproduced in open pollination using several males and females
